Research Overview

The Czyzyk laboratory is studying Type 1 diabetes. They are working towards a better understanding of protease activity, anti-protease antibodies, and how protease activity could change immune responses inside the pancreas. They are using human samples as well as knock-out and transgenic mouse models of diabetes.

Dr. Czyzyk is also an active renal pathologist, with an interest in translational research. His main areas of research interest are diabetes, the pancreas, autoimmune diseases, and inflammation.
