Conditions Treated
Apheresis may reduce medical complications, length of hospital stays, and even treatment costs. As a complement to other treatments, apheresis can provide benefits to patients with a number of hematology/oncology, neurology, and nephrology/rheumatology conditions, including:
- Leukemia
- Multiple Myeloma / Waldenstrom
- Guillain-Barré Syndrome
- Myasthenia Gravis
- Transplant rejection
- Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura
- Goodpasture’s Syndrome (rare)
Depending on the condition, your hematologist oncologist will request the best apheresis treatment for you. You may receive this treatment as an inpatient or outpatient. Either an IV or a catheter may be used to transfer blood to and from the apheresis machine. The apheresis team welcomes your questions. We care about you and want you to feel comfortable.
