What kind of conditions and diseases is the URMC researching?
The University of Rochester Medical Center is involved with hundred of clinical research studies. That’s because we are the area’s only academic medical center, a place that brings doctors and researchers together to discover and provide the very latest ways to improve health.
At any given time, we are performing clinical research on dozens of diseases. We have performed research on diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, cancer, stroke, Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, osteoporosis, muscular dystrophy, arthritis, asthma, atherosclerosis and many, many others.
We also do research involving healthy people. The University of Rochester Medical Center is typically conducting several studies that look at ways to prevent diseases, such as through the use of vaccines or promoting healthier lifestyles.
