(ULAB08113) A Laboratory Study in Ambulatory Cancer Patients at Low or Intermediate Risk for Venous Thromboembolism.
| Purpose | Some newly diagnosed cancer patients are more likely to develop blood clots, also known as venous thromboembolism (VTE). We are currently conducting a study to evaluate the safety and efficacy of prophylaxis in a high-risk subgroup of cancer patients. The purpose of the study is to enroll patients deemed low-risk or intermediate-risk for VTE to serve as a control group and to conduct laboratory studies. You have been identified as having a low or intermediate risk for blood clots. This study involves a one time blood draw which will be used to study levels of various markers that may help predict how often a person might develop a blood clot, this will be drawn prior to the first chemotherapy treatment. Your chart and the diagnostic biopsy material, if available, will be reviewed. | |||
