Candidates will be considered after one year of postgraduate training or after completing training in medicine, pediatrics, or family practice. Internships (PGY-1) approved by the American Board of Dermatology include transitional, internal medicine, general surgery, family practice, and pediatrics. For residents interested in academic dermatology, special training in dermatology research (clinical and basic science) is available and supported by an NIH training grant. Such a program meets the requirements of the American Board of Dermatology. The program can be tailored for the special needs of candidates with both M.D. and Ph.D. degrees.
