Applications to the University of Rochester/General Preventive Medicine and Public Health Residency Program will be accepted ONLY through the Association of American Medical College's Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) Applications should be completed by December 31st.

Applicants from U.S. or Canadian medical schools must pass Step I of the USMLE exam or Level 1 of the COMLEX exam before they are interviewed. Applicants from International Medical Schools may apply for admission to our residency program if they have passed both Steps I and II of the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE), including Part II CS and CK., have been certified by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG). All applicants must have completed (or be able to complete) their preliminary clinical internship year prior to their intended July 1st start date.
Applicants who are selected for an interview are notified by email and/or phone. Interviews are usually held between January and March of each year, and they will be arranged on an individual basis on a day and time which is mutually agreed upon. In person interviews are preferred, so that prospective residents can get a better understanding or our program and we can better get to know you. However phone interviews can be arranged if necessary. For those interviewing for the combined family medicine/general preventive medicine residency slot, interview arrangements will be made through the Department of Family Medicine and we will interview you on an adjacent day
