Current PGY-1 Residents

 

Borden Rachel Borden, MD - Rachel graduated from SUNY Buffalo. She graduated from the University of Notre Dame and received her MS from the University of Wisconsin in Madison. She also studied at the University of Dublin. Rachel's husband is a lawyer for the US Energy Development Corporation. Both Rachel and her husband are originally from Akron, New York.
Mahmoud Dana Mahmoud, DO - Dana graduated from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dana received both graduate and undergraduate degrees from SUNY Binghamton. Her interests include fitness and travel. During her childhood, Dana moved around quite a bit and this gave her the advantage of interacting with people from many different backgrounds.
Nadbrzuch Rachel Nadbrzuch, MD - Rachel also graduated from SUNY Buffalo and is a member of the Golden Key International Honour Society. Rachel received her BS and BA from SUNY Buffalo. Rachel's interests are baking, watching hockey, reading, tennis, kayaking, horseback riding, hiking and spending time with family and friends. Rachel's interest is in child psychiatry.
Nelson Joshua Nelson, MD - Josh graduated from SUNY Upstate. From the Syracuse area, Josh graduated from LeMoyne College. His interests include basketball, golf, Frisbeen golf, hiking and cross country skiing. Josh expresses an interest in forensics, child and adolescent psychiatry and research.
Sauerborn Brittany Sauerborn, MD - Brittany graduated from the University of South Carolina. Bgrittany is married to an ex-Marine who completed his MBA. She has done missionary work in Honduras with the AGAPE Foundation and future goals include providing more international mental health and medical care.

Bochacki

Ryan Bochacki, MD - Ryan graduated from SUNY Buffalo. He attended RIT and Ithaca College as an undergraduate. Ryan is married to Rachel Flink-Bochacki, who is an Ob/Gyn resident. His interests are rowing, reading military history, working on his car, motorcycle, running, biking and skiing.

Fu

Annabel Fu, MD - Annabel completed her undergraduate studies at Washington University in St. Louis and graduated from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. She enjoys spending time with her family and volunteering at the St. Joseph's Neighborhood Center.

David

David Osuna, MD - David joined our residency in 2011. He was drawn to psychiatry after his third year rotation in medical school. During the match factors that contributed to placing the University of Rochester above other programs included a solid clinical training, a very caring program director, happy residents and a suppportive environment. His interests include reading, chess, skiing, gaming and travel.

Sherman

Gregory Sherman, MD - Greg also graduated from SUNY Buffalo. Greg is a member of the Arnold P. Gold Humanism Honor Society and has volunteered as a youth soccer coach, the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life and participated in Habitat for Humanity. His passion is music (guitar, bass, djembe) and the theater. He also enjoys horticulture, beer tastings, cooking and reading. Greg's girlfriend, Katina Foster, is an Ob/Gyn resident.

Baynes

Kathleen Tappan Baynes, MD - Kathleen, graduated from Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University. Her husband and daughter live in the Park Avenue area. Kathleen graduated from Yale University with a BA in Political Science and attended Tsinghua University in Beijing for four months then went to Columbia University for her Post Baccalaureate Premed Program. Kathleen speaks conversational French and Mandarin Chinese and enjoys reading, cooking, writing and tennis.

Alma

Alma Guerra, MD, PhD - Alma graduated from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health in Madison. She earned her PhD in Biomolecular Chemistry from UW also. Alma received a BS in Biochemistry from St. Mary's University in San Antonio, Texas. Her interests include salsa, meringue and ballet dancing, playing Frisbee, tennis and jogging. She is fluent in Spanish and has an interest in working with the migrant worker population. Her family is originally from Mexico and she has 9 sisters and 3 brothers.

Ledgerwood

Amy Ledgerwood, MD - Amy graduated from the SUNY Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. Amy graduated with a BA in Psychology from the University of Rochester. She is originally from Geneva, New York. Her hobbies include reading, yoga, playing the piano and crocheting. She stays active by jogging, swimming and water skiing. She is interested in travel and visited Costa Rica in 2008. She has enjoyed working with her grandparents, father, uncles, cousins and her brother on her family's farm raising wheat, corn, hay, straw and pumpkins.

Mietz

Andrew Mietz, MD - Andrew graduated from Ross University School of Medicine. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Colorado with a BS in Psychology and a BA in Spanish. He will be entering into the Child and Adolescent fellowship at the University of Rochester next year.

Patrice Bellanti, MD - Patrice is Chief Resident of Acute Services in the General Psychiatry training program.

Larrow

Brian Larrow, DO - Brian is Chief Resident of Education in the Psychiatry Residency Program. Originally from Holyoke, Massachusetts, he graduated from the College of the Holy Cross with a degree in Biology, and then went on to medical school at A.T. Still University, Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine. He enjoys hiking Rochester's many trails, playing tennis, travel, and spending time with family. He is a fan of the Boston Red Sox, Celtics, and New England Patriots.

Yearwood

Ronald Yearwood, MD - Ron is Chief Resident of Ambulatory Services. He was born in Caracas, Venezuela, grew up in Grenada & Barbados in Caribbean and received his undergraduate and post-graduate education in London, England. He completed medical school training in England the U.S., and completed a residency in Family Medicine at University of Rochester, before embarking on residency in General Psychiatry. Ron enjoys a variety of outdoor pursuits, as well as creative cuisine and wine tasting. After completing his residency, Ron hopes to open an outpatient psychiatry practice in a beautiful, historic Greek Revival building he recently purchased in central Rochester.

Christie

Michael Christie, MD - After graduating from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry in 1991, I completed Highland Hospital's Family Medicine residency and an associated fellowship that incorporated training in HIV, addictions medicine and family therapy. Remaining in Rochester since that time, I have worked primarily in HIV- and addiction-related primary care and developed a still-growing interest in the relationship between primary care and psychiatry, especially in how to make comprehensive mental health care more accessible. The excellent faculty, staff and especially my fellow residents have helped make my second residency educationally valuable and a whole lot of fun.
