Department of Radiation Oncology
Thank you for your interest in learning more about our excellent Residency Training Program in Radiation Oncology at the University of Rochester Medical Center's Wilmot Cancer Center.
Radiation Oncology is a full academic department located in the Wilmot Cancer Center, within the University of Rochester Medical Center / Strong Memorial Hospital. The department has seen much growth over the past four years—increased space, expanded technology, greater complexity and sophistication of treatment planning, and a heightened workforce—all resulting in prolific outcomes for the department, allowing us to provide our residents with the utmost quality in training.
Under the guidance of Chairperson Yuhchyau Chen, MD, PhD, the department continues as a leading force in both cancer treatment and research. Our highly professional and nationally recognized faculty are pioneers in the use of rapidly evolving treatment modalities that will become the mainstay of future radiation therapy.
Our Residency Program has been fully accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) since 1971. This well-established 4-year training program is currently approved for 6 residency positions. It is a stimulating and rigorous program, housed within a friendly and supportive environment. Through an abundance of clinical and didactic educational opportunities, we have succeeded in providing our residents with a curriculum that provides tremendous intellectual depth as well as professional growth.
