Technician Program

This Conference for Allied Health Professionals will provide an update for ophthalmic personnel at the assistant, technician, technologist, skilled nurse, or photographer level and will run concurrently with the physician conference.

Topics will include:

Course Objectives

At the conclusion of this conference, participants will be able to:

  • Review the mechanism and treatment of dry eye
  • Describe the progression of glaucoma and list current medical and surgical treatment options for the disease
  • Describe the presentation of several retinal diseases and the use of diagnostic instrumentation in treatment
  • Understand the progression of cataract and determine when surgical intervention may be necessary
  • List appropriate prescription of a variety of refractive correction options

  • Understand the mechanism of thyroid eye disease and list treatments for the disease
  • Describe management of a variety of chemical injuries to the eye
