Sports Medicine Fellowship
Program Overview
Today's family medicine means cutting edge training and research in family and sports medicine.
Our fellowships are designed for doctors who want an exceptional experience. Building upon your medical knowledge and expertise, your assigned responsibilities will involve:
Establishing and managing a Sports Medicine and a Family Medicine continuity patient base.
Opportunities for coverage with professional hockey, lacrosse and soccer teams are available.
Coverage for endurance events including the Rochester Marathon.
Concentrated participation as a team physician including procedures on site/on field care for two local colleges and a high school sports team:
Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) men's NCAA Div. 1 hockey team (4 time Atlantic Hockey Assoc. regular season title in the past 5 seasons)
RIT's women's hockey team (now NCAA Div. 1 and 2102 NCAA Div. 3 Nat'l Champions)
RIT's men's lacrosse (NCAA Div. 3 semifinals 2012)
St. John Fisher College Football, NCAA Div. 3 (NCAA Quarter finalists 2 of the past 5 years)
McQuaid Jesuit High School
Your attendance at Sports Medicine conferences, seminars and workshops, and conducting research and scholarly activity will reinforce your learning experiences.
Program Details
Curricular Experiences
Your curricular experiences will include participation in operative and minor surgical procedures. Orthopedic rotations in cervical, shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand, hip and knee, ankle and foot are part of the standard curriculum. Also exposure to compartment pressure testing and musculoskeletal ultrasound will be provided. Nutrition, exercise physiology, sports psychology, ethics and legal issues will complete your learning experiences.

One fellow is recruited each fellowship year.

We are located in Rochester, New York, the home of many famous human rights activists and historic sites
