Myoblast Cell Cultures

The following describes the methods used in the Fields Center for initiation of myoblast cell cultures from FSHD (FSH dystrophy) and conrol individuals.

 

Background: Myoblast cell cultures are established from samples of muscle obtained either through an needle or open biopsy sampling procedure. Typically a muscle sample of between 60-100mg is adequate for establishing a primary myoblast culture.
