Deaf Weight Wise
104 Participants have been enrolled in Deaf Weight Wise (DWW)!
The NCDHR research team would like to thank everyone who signed up to join DWW. Your interest and motivation will help us learn more about the DWW 16-week healthy lifestyle group program. The NCDHR team would also like to thank all the community organizations and clubs around Rochester that helped to support DWW recruitment events. We are thankful that you helped us spread the word about this important research!

College Health Talk Series :
These talks, lead by Tiffany Panko, are specifically for college students and will focus on different health topics that cause a major concern for today's college students. These topics range from "Stress Management" to "Sports Injuries". The presentations, held once a month, will be at NTID in the Student Development Center, room 2102. Below are some of the talks held recently. For future presentations, please contact Tiffany Panko.
1st health topic (Oct. 1, 2011): Stress Management.
This workshop focused on explaining what stress is, when it can be good or bad, and what it really does to the body in both the short-term and long-term. Management techniques were discussed, including an opportunity for participants to practice some yoga poses.

2nd health topic (Nov. 19, 2011): Seasonal Affective Disorder
As the school year makes you busier and the days get shorter, you may feel stressed but also down or depressed. This session discussed if this could be because of Seasonal Affective Disorder, how and why it happens, and strategies to feel better.

3rd health topic (Jan. 11, 2012): Volunteering & Freshman 15
With the New Year, for many, comes a new you with new goals! This workshop aims to help students accomplish some of those goals and improve their overall health. There will be discussion of how to lose weight the healthy way as well as why volunteering is important, along with an opportunity (maybe two) to sign up for a volunteering event.
