Dr Monk been practicing Nephrology at the University of Rochester for over twenty years. She has a passion for teaching and is actively involved in the education of medical students, internal medicine residents and Nephrology fellows.
While she continues to find inpatient Nephrology exciting, she relishes the long-term relationships she has developed with long-standing clinic and dialysis patients. She appreciates the patient –physician collaboration and trust required to improve the patient's experience in their treatment.
Dr Monk established the CRRT program at URMC. Areas of interest include Critical Care Nephrology, Nephrolithiasis and geriatric Nephrology.

Dr. Monk may have saved my life. I was experiencing Stage 5 kidney failure. She responded late at night once the results of a blood test came in, ordered a prescription (Potassium) that helped resolve my issue.

Dr. Monk has been my nephrologist for 20+ years. I credit my primary then and Dr. Monk's actions as my kidney function was saved by their quick response on a Friday afternoon 20 years ago.

Dr Monk has always been amazing. She is so personable and sets you at ease. Speaking to her is like speaking to an old friend. She is calm, patient and makes you feel as though you are the only patient she is seeing that day. Highly recommend her to anyone!
