I have had the privilege of working in the pain management field for a significant portion of my professional career and have had the opportunity to provide ongoing clinical care for patients with malignant and non-malignant pain conditions, along with participating in clinical research in this field.

The University of Rochester environment where the biopsychosocial model was first developed has allowed me to collaborate with a variety of health care providers where a multidiscipline teaching environment is strongly supported. In various committees I have assisted in the development of educational programs for patients and health care providers. These programs have been presented locally and regionally.

As a School of Nursing faculty member I have taught undergraduate and graduate nurses, pain and palliative assessment and management strategies for the past 12 years. In my clinical environment I mentor nursing students, resident and pain fellow physician colleagues.

My research collaboration with our team of anesthesiology, physical medicine physicians and behavioral psychologists have done clinical research for medications, devices and evaluated new treatment strategies for the past 16 years.
