Patient Care Bio
Dr. Regina Smolyak is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. She is affiliated with Strong Memorial Hospital.
Dr. Smolyak provides medical and surgical treatment for patients with glaucoma at the Flaum Eye Institute and its satellite operations. She is a skilled clinician and educator who utilizes all of the diagnostic, pharmaceutical and surgical resources of the Eye Institute to preserve and protect the vision of patients who suffer from this progressive and incurable disease. Dr. Smolyak enjoys working with a diverse patient population and is fluent in Russian.
Dr. Smolyak's research interests include clinical trials. She is also dedicated to the training of residents, medical students and providing training to medical personnel both inside and outside of ophthalmology. She is a graduate of the University of Rochester where she also went on to complete her medical degree. She was a resident in ophthalmology at the Albert Einstein School of medicine and a glaucoma fellow at Washington University in St. Louis School of Medicine. Dr. Smolyak is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. She is also a member of the New York Glaucoma Society and the American Glaucoma Society.
