Professional Bio
Dr. Benesch completed his Neurology Residency and Fellowship Training in Experimental Therapeutics in Cerebrovascular Disease at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. He is board-certified in Neurology and Vascular Neurology and has been the Director of the URMC Stroke Center since its inception in 1996. He is also the Director of the Vascular Neurology Fellowship Program. His research interests include acute stroke treatment, secondary stroke prevention, development of community-wide approaches to stroke care, and cost-effectiveness of stroke treatment.

Major research interests are: Clinical trials of acute stroke treatment, Secondary prevention of stroke, and Cost-effectiveness of diagnostic testing, evaluation, and care of patients with stroke.
