Dr. Gorczyca is a traumatologist, or an orthopaedic surgeon that treats difficult fractures and fractures that fail to heal or heal incorrectly. He has a great deal of experience using limb shortening and lengthening to correct deformities. Dr. Gorczyca performs complex reconstructive surgery to repair bone loss using bone transplants, artificial implants, and growth of new bone in adults.
Dr. Gorczyca earned his medical degree at Boston University School of Medicine. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center and a fellowship in orthopaedic trauma and joint reconstruction at the Sunnybrook Health Science Centre at the University of Toronto. He is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. Dr. Gorczyca is Chief of the Orthopaedic Trauma Division at URMC and a Professor of Orthopaedics. He has published numerous medical articles and textbook chapters, and is on the editorial boards of prominent medical journals.
