Patient Care Bio
Dr. Hindman specializes in the medical and surgical treatment of corneal diseases, cataract, and in laser refractive surgery.
Dr. Hindman is a Rochester, NY native who returned to the area after training at Stanford University, Harvard Medical School, and The Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins University. She completed her fellowship training in Cornea and External Disease at the Flaum Eye Institute. Dr. Hindman has expertise in the medical treatment of cornea and ocular surface disease and in the latest surgical techniques including: penetrating, lamellar (DALK) and endothelial keratoplasty (DSAEK), keratoprosthesis, and laser refractive surgery (including customized and conventional LASIK and PRK as well as PTK).
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Hindman is involved in cornea reasearch and has a special research interest in corneal wound healing and refractive problems of the eye and has received a National Institutes of Health grant to support these scientific endeavors. As a clinician scientist, she will allow us to rapidly incorporate the newest cutting-edge research into patient care. Dr. Hindman also helps to educate the next generation of doctors as the Director of the Ophthalmology Clerkships for the University of Rochester medical students.
Dr. Hindman's professional memberships include: American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, Wilmer Residents' Association, New York State Ophthalmological Society, Contact Lens Association of Ophthalmologists, and the Cornea Society.
