Community Outreach Programs

The Regional Early Childhood Direction Center (RECDC) is a project sponsored by Monroe BOCES #1 that provides free information, referral assistance, and support to families and professionals. This project has a close association with Neurodevelopmental and Behavioral Pediatrics. RECDC provides FREE information, referral assistance, and support to families and professionals. It serves an 11-county region including Genesee, Livingston, Monroe, Ontario, Seneca, Wayne, Wyoming, Yates, Steuben, Schuyler, and Chemung.

RECDC is a grant-funded program by the New York State Education Department and the Office of Vocational and Educational Supports for Individuals with Disabilities (VESID). RECDC has been in existence since 1979 and began as a clearinghouse of information about children birth to 5 years.

Our partnership with the Infant and Toddler Development Program consists of two components: a tracking program and a follow-up clinic with the Neonatal Continuing Care Clinic. The NCCP provides assistance to families in accessing services for children with developmental delays. Follow-up data on all Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) graduates helps to inform research and future studies.

RECDC continues to support families and professionals by:

  • Helping to identify children with disabilities or those at risk as early as possible – “Child Find” (IDEA)
  • Offering training and technical assistance on key early childhood issues in the region
  • Promote services to be delivered to children in the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE)

  • Linda J. Sullivan, M.S. Ed., Inclusion Associate
  • Joan Merzbach, Service Counselor
