Breastfeeding/Human Lactation Center
The Breastfeeding and Human Lactation Study Center is part of the Division of Neonatology and is a valuable resource for our physicians. If your physician has questions/concerns regarding what medications can be taken during breastfeeding or general questions regarding difficulties with breastfeeding, he or she may contact our center. The center maintains a database of drugs in lactation, medical information, and programs around breastfeeding.

Lactation Support for Mothers
Lactation (breast feeding) support for mothers and their babies in the Strong Beginnings Birthing Center is provided by six board certified lactation consultants (IBCLC) through he Department of Obstetrics with consultation from the Lactation Study Center. The breastfeeding warm line is (585) 275-9575.
Lactation support for mothers with babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is provided by two dedicated board certified consultants.
