Conditions We Treat
Adolescent Medicine provides consultative services to primary care physicians and sub specialists throughout Upstate New York and primary care services to parenting teens and their children. In addition, comprehensive care services for patients with eating disorders are available and are coordinated with other programs to provide the full continuum of care delivery.
Following are some of the more common conditions we treat:
- General health care
- Family planning, sexuality, pregnancy, and general adolescent gynecological care
- Sexually transmitted disease diagnosis and treatment
- Behavior, family, and school problems evaluation and counseling
- Mental health issues associated with medical conditions
- Eating disorders such as anorexia nervosa or bulimia nervosa
- Obesity
- Adjustment to chronic illnesses (diabetes, sickle cell anemia, asthma, congenital heart disease, and pain conditions)
- Health care for special populations including gay youth, juvenile justice, and runaway youth
- Health promotion, education, and disease prevention counseling
- Medical consultants to high school based clinic
