Pediatric Anesthesia

"Working together our team ensures that your child is cared for in the very same way we would care for our own children."

At Golisano Children's Hospital of Rochester, we know children are not just small adults - and that when it comes to anesthesia children and adults have different needs than adults. This is why our 11 anesthesiologists are board certified in pediatric anesthesia - meaning they are all fellowship trained in advanced pediatric anesthesia practices.

Each of our board certified and subspecialty board certified pediatric anesthesiologists that treat children at our main Golisano location also care for children undergoing procedures at our Sawgrass Ambulatory Surgery Center location. Throughout the network, our team oversees more than 10,000 patient procedures each year.

Our expertise spans many areas of the hospital including:

  • Operating rooms
  • Cardiac catheterization
  • Electrophysiology labs
  • MRI and CT
  • GI Labs
  • Interventional radiology

From our smallest NICU babies to our teenage athletes - our expert knowledge and skillset is customized to meet the unique health needs of your child.

We provide anesthesia management for elective and emergency surgery of neonatal and pediatric patients, treatment of acute and chronic pain, and sedation for children undergoing complex diagnostic procedures.

Collaboration Leads to Best Care

Our anesthesiologists work closely with many other pediatric specialists throughout the hospital to determine the best treatment plan for your child. With our involvement in the Pediatric Perioperative Surgical Home, we are here to help you find the resources and support that will keep your child safe and comfortable while undergoing surgery or other procedures.

Pediatric Perioperative Wellness Program

Whether you are a patient or someone who is supporting a patient during their perioperative journey, you know that having a surgical procedure can sometimes cause stress. By participating in the Pediatric Perioperative Wellness Program, you will have a chance to learn several mind-body techniques that have been shown to decrease the effects of stress on the body and can potentially make the process of having a procedure or surgery less difficult.
