How do I register for a course?
To register for a course fill out the appropriate course registration form and mail completed form with payment to the CPE Office; we do not take registrations over the phone. If faxing your registration form be sure to note proper credit card information; incorrect information may delay or deny registration processing.

How can I pay for my course/conference fees?

There are several ways to pay for a conference: Cash, Personal Check, Visa / MasterCard / Discover, a Blue 312 requisition with departmental approval, CME Vouchers and Nursing Coupons. For information regarding the voucher or coupon program please call our office at 585-275-4392.

Will I receive confirmation of my registration?

An acknowledgement letter is mailed to registrants 3-4 weeks prior to the event. If you have not received one, please call the CPE office at 585-275-4392 to confirm receipt of your registration form.  The acknowledgement letter will remind you of the schedule (arrival and dismissal times), location, directions, required materials and other important information. Receipts are distributed at the registration table on conference day.

I registered for an ALS Course. When can I expect to receive my manual/books/course materials for the class?
Materials are generally mailed 3-4 weeks prior to a course along with an acknowledgement letter confirming your registration.

I am not an M.D. Can I take your courses?
Yes, anyone can take our courses. However, please note that our courses are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME). All participants will receive a certificate, however not all are eligible to receive the AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™. Please click here for information on eligibility requirements.

Can you reserve a spot for me in a class until I can get my paperwork in?

Because of the high demand for particular classes, we do not hold spots until we have received both the paperwork and the payment. Registration is strictly on a first-come, first-serve basis.

When can I expect to receive my CME certificate?

Certificates will generally arrive in the mail 4-6 weeks following the course/conference.

How do I get a report of my CME credits?

Call the CPE office at 585-275-4392 and we will fax a copy to you. You will need to provide us with your birthdate (2-digit month and day), phone number, date you need the report by and a fax number.

I attended a particular conference but it’s not showing up on my credit report. Why?
CPE only tracks and records the conferences and classes that are certified through our office. If you attend a conference that is not certified through the UofR CPE office, then it is up to you as the individual to keep track of the credits earned.

How often are my records updated?
Regulary Scheduled Series (Grand Rounds) are only submitted to the CPE office by your particular department quarterly. Conference attendance is updated 4-6 weeks following the event.

When does my ACLS/ATLS/PALS card expire?
ACLS and PALS certification lasts for 2 years. ATLS certification expires after 4 years.

My contact information has changed. How can I update it?

You may update your information via email on our "Join Our Mailing List" page under About Us.

Is smoking permitted at your conferences?
The University of Rochester is a Smoke Free Institution - inside and out. This means that all staff, patients and visitors who wish to smoke must do so outside of the established Smoke FREE perimeter. Single-dose nicotine replacement products are available for purchase at cost throughout the Medical Center.

How do I make accommodations for my disability?
Please contact our office at least TEN days in advance of the course/conference for ADA Accommodations. Our office hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm.

Where do I park?
Anyone with a current University of Rochester parking permit must park in their normally assigned lot. The CPE Office WILL NOT be responsible for any parking tickets received for parking in a non-assigned lot. All other registrants please park in one of the following areas:

  • MRB Visitor Parking Lot, if available, which is located on Elmwood Avenue near the Kendrick Road intersection (enter through School of Medicine & Dentistry)
