Description
Continuing medical education (CME) activities are designed to foster
and promote the University of Rochester Medical Center and Strong
Memorial Hospital's mission "to improve health through caring,
discovery, teaching and learning". Under the guidance of course
directors, and across potentially all content areas served by our
faculty, CME activities address the interdisciplinary needs of clinicians,
primary care physicians, specialists, clinical sub-specialists and
other health care professionals. Continuing Professional Education
strives to maintain standards by constantly evaluating the balance
of approaches to meet institutional requirements as well as the
perceived and expressed needs of our learning audience.
Objectives
In accordance with the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical
Education (ACCME) Essential Elements and Standards, the Office of
Continuing Professional Education has set forth the following objectives:
* Organize and sponsor activities which encourage professional
inquiry, and meet the needs of physicians and allied health care
professionals as they develop and sustain quality patient care
* Explore innovative practices to improve content integration
and knowledge application
Evaluation
Data collected from participants at the conclusion of each CME activity
are evaluated and analyzed for their effectiveness. Results are
shared with activity directors, faculty and the Office for Continuing
Professional Education staff for the continuous improvement of CME
activities.
