Our Team

At the Psoriasis Center, we have the only team in the Rochester, NY area that is totally devoted to the care of patients with psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis and related conditions. Our team also extends to many other specialists at the University of Rochester Medical Center who work with our patients on related issues including endocrinology, cardiology, ophthalmology and gastroenterology.

Christopher Ritchlin, M.D., M.P.H. is a rheumatologist specializing in the treatment of psoriatic arthritis. Dr. Ritchlin led the group that created the first-ever international guidelines for the treatment of psoriatic arthritis. He is also the Director of the Clinical Immunology Research Unit at URMC. Dr. Ritchlin directs a team of investigators in the lab and in the clinic who are conducting scientific and clinical research aimed at finding the mechanisms that underlie psoriatic joint inflammation. The team is also working on the development of new and better treatments for this challenging disease.

Francisco Tausk, M.D. is a dermatologist specializing in the treatment of psoriasis. Dr. Tausk is head of the nation's only Center for Integrated Dermatology, which specializes in treatments for skin diseases that involve both the body and the mind. Through his interest in the medical aspects of psoriasis, as well as the emotional, he has helped numerous patients find more effective treatments. Dr. Tausk is president of the Association of Psychocutaneous Medicine of North America. Dr. Tausk conducts clinical trials for psoriasis, and he is the author of numerous journal articles and book chapters as well as 2 books.

Andrea Sandoz, M.D. is Associate Clinical Professor of Psychiatry, Pediatrics and Dermatology at the University of Rochester Medical Center. Dr. Sandoz is trained in child and adolescent psychiatry and is now actively involved in teaching residents and medical students at the University of Rochester Medical Center. Prior to coming to URMC, she was Medical Director at Rochester Rehabilitation Center. Dr. Sandoz is a member of the Association of Psychocutaneous Medicine of North America, American Psychiatric Association and American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
