Dr. Ching is dedicated to treating disorders of the cornea, including the conjunctiva and sclera, and is a specialist in the diagnosis and treatment of dry eye syndrome. Simple treatments can prevent the cornea damage that threatens vision in patients with dry eyes. In addition, his research initiatives include clinical trials such as a bacterial conjunctivitis study completed in collaboration with Dr. Shobha Boghani for Alcon Laboratories, Inc.

Dr. Ching is director of the Ophthalmology Cornea Fellowship. He also serves as medical director of the Rochester Eye and Human Parts Bank and is actively involved in cornea research. A 1974 graduate of the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, Dr. Ching has provided patient care at MI Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown, completed residency training in Rochester (Class of 1981), and completed a cornea and external disease fellowship at the University of Iowa.

Dr. Ching's professional memberships include: the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, Corneal Society, the Contact Lens Association of Ophthalmologists, the Eye Bank Association of America, the New York State Ophthalmological Society, the Ocular Microbiology and Immunology Group Research to Prevent Blindness, and the Rochester Ophthalmic Society.
