The members of the General Medicine Division have a major role in the medical education of University of Rochester medical students and medical residents through its involvement in teaching activities including: directing the Introduction to Clinical Medicine course, second year shadowing, precepting students in the third year inpatient medical clerkship, precepting third year medical students in the ambulatory medical clerkship in the urgent care clinic, precepting medical residents in the Faculty Resident Practice, teaching on the inpatient units through both the inpatient service and the consult service, administrative roles in the Internal Medicine residency program, involvement in the Academic advisor program, and participation in the resident selection and clinical competence committees.
In addition, members of the General Medicine Division have been recognized for their excellence in teaching through nominations for and the awarding of the Baumann Prize for Excellence in Teaching, the highest teaching award in the department of medicine; along with recognition by the third year residents as “teachers who made a difference” as annually voted by the graduating third year medical residents. |
