Transplantation Infectious Diseases

Strong Memorial Hospital maintains an active program in solid-organ transplantation, focusing on kidney and liver transplantation and has an active program in management of heart failure, which includes both insertion of a variety of ventricular assist devices (VAD) as well as heart transplantation. Because of the unique and severe nature of the infectious complications in these highly immunocompromised individuals, the Infectious Disease division initiated a separate transplantation infectious diseases program in 2006.
