Current Grants
In 2008, the University of Rochester's department of Obstetrics and Gynecology was number 2 in overall NIH funding. We've also received grants from foundations and the state of New York.
Resident Research
To appreciate the conduct of research, each resident will perform his or her own research project with the mentorship of a faculty member. Starting in the first year, residents select their general area of interest and find a faculty mentor for their project. In the second half of the intern year, each resident presents his or her plans to the resident and faculty group in a “Work In Progress,” a.k.a. WIP. The WIPs are designed to provide a forum for discussion and advice about the conduct of the research. During the second year, each resident presents a second WIP, demonstrating their progress to carrying out the project and collecting data. At the conclusion of the third year, residents present their data to the Department at the annual Resident Research Day. During their fourth year, they work with their mentor to draft their manuscript for submission to a peer-reviewed journal and to a national conference for presentation
Office of Research Administration
The Office of Research Administration (ORA) oversees all grants both external and internal in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology from the initial application through the close-out process.

ORA Flash
A publication of the Research Division, ORA Flash exists to educate the members of the OB/GYN department about grants and related issues, to keep us in touch with each other’s research, and to offer resources to make the whole grant process easier. ORA Flash is now part of the Ob/Gyn Inside Story. Only back issues are stored here.
