Benjamin Hammond, MD provides care for infants, children and young adults suffering from eye disease. He diagnoses and treats all pediatric eye conditions and performs cataract, strabismus, glaucoma and tear duct surgeries.
Dr. Hammond is an honors graduate of Brigham Young University and attended Medical School at the University of Michigan where he excelled in research, winning a Student Biomedical Research Fellowship. He completed his residency in ophthalmology at the University of Rochester Medical Center. He proceeded to complete a fellowship in Pediatric Ophthalmology at Children's Hospital of Los Angeles / University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine.
Dr. Hammond's research interests include the epidemiology and treatment of common childhood conditions, including amblyopia and strabismus. He is also interested in improving outcomes in the treatment of childhood glaucoma and cataracts. He has been involved with the Multi-Ethnic Pediatric Eye Disease Study (MEPEDS), the largest population based study of pediatric ocular health ever performed, and he will be an active participant in ongoing Pediatric Eye Disease Investigator Group (PEDIG) studies. He is eligible for certification by the American Board of Ophthalmology, and he is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Academy of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus.
