Rochester Community Mobile Crises Team
Mission of Service
Intervene in a crisis situation to prevent the crisis from having patholological consequences. Crises cannot be sustained indefinitely; when left alone it will resolve itself. However without intervention, the crisis could end with pathological consequences, i.e., suicide, homicide, child abuse, domestic violence, or some maladaptive strategy that leaves the family and/or the individual vulnerable and at-risk to future crises. Divert non-lethal individuals from the county’s psychiatric emergency departments to allow more rapid service for lethal individuals.
Target Population
Individuals and families within Monroe County who are experiencing a crisis in mental health. There are no age restrictions. The team serves children, adolescents, adults and older adults within the County of Monroe.
Description of Service Providers
The Rochester Community Mobile Crisis Team is a multiracial, multicultural, multidisciplinary team of mental health providers.
Types of Services Provided
- Crisis intervention, client/situation stabilization
- Mental health assessments
- Rapid linkage and/or re-linkage to treatment providers
- Interim/bridge mental health treatment
- Mental hygiene arrests under Article 945 of the Mental Hygiene Law
- Critical Incident Stress Management
- Respite housing when available
- Workshops, presentations concerning mental health issues
Special Features of Service
The team is a mobile psychiatric emergency department. Individuals/family can be seen by mental health professionals in their home, place of employment, school, etc.
