  • 18  of URSMD Class of 2013 students chose Internal Medicine, 10 chose Emergency Medicine, 9 in Family Medicine,  Pediatrics and Anesthesiology (1 of these 9 will train in Pediatric Anesthesiology).  7 in Neurology with 6 in General Surgery categorical or preliminary, 4 in Obstetrics & Gynecology, Orthopedics and Psychiatry, 3 in Dermatology, 2 in combined Medicine-Pediatrics, Child Neurology, Ophthalmology, Radiology, Pathology, Plastic Surgery and Vascular Surgery, 1 in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Urology
  • The top specialty choices in the class were: Internal Medicine (18), Emergency Medicine (10), Family Medicine (9), Pediatrics (9), Anesthesiology (9)

Facts about Classes of 2013 Nationwide:

  • Nationally, there were 17,487 seniors from U.S. medical schools who were active applicants in the match and submitted a rank list
  • Nationally, 52.5% of students got their first choice, 16% their second and 10.3% their third
  • National data indicated 19.1% of students chose Internal Medicine, 11.2% Pediatrics 8.7% Emergency Medicine, 8.3% Family Medicine, 5.8% Obstetrics and Gynecology and General Surgery and 4.6% Anesthesiology
