Scientific Advisory Committee
The SMD Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) advises the Dean and Vice Dean on strategic decisions relating to recruitment, academics, infrastructure investments, and space allocations. SAC members represent the full breadth of research activity at the SMD, and include faculty conducting fundamental, translational and clinical research, drawn from multiple departments and centers across the medical center.
SAC provides high-level guidance, helps to identify areas of need, and provides advice on prioritization of projects/recruitments and areas for investment. It does not review or approve the qualifications of individual faculty candidates.
SAC also administers and awards two funding programs:
- A new Pilot Award Program to support innovative, trans-disciplinary science.
- A new Small Equipment Award Program to provide limited support for small items of shared equipment.
