Welcome to Speech Pathology
The Department of Speech Pathology at Strong Memorial Hospital is part of the Department of Otolaryngology. We offer instrumental evaluation and therapy to both in- and outpatient children and adults who have communication and swallowing problems. A full range of services is available, including highly specialized diagnostic procedures for complex problems using a multidisciplinary approach. The most sensitive means of diagnosis and management of swallowing include videofluoroscopy pharyngograms, Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) and surface electromygraphic swallowing training, and neuromuscular electrical stimulation using Vital Stim therapy.
