Chin Reduction Surgery
How the Procedure is Performed
Chin reduction surgery begins with incisions either under the chin or inside the mouth. The incisions give the surgeon access to the bone and surrounding tissue. The surgeon uses specialized instruments to reduce and reshape the bone. When the procedure is complete, your surgeon closes the incisions with small stitches and covers them with bandages.
All surgery involves some risk and uncertainty. Serious complications or side effects of this surgery are rare, but they include:
- Blood clots
- Bad reactions to the anesthesia
