CTSI Announces Research Centers in Minority Institutions Scholarly Exchange

The University of Rochester Clinical Translational Science Institute (CTSI) announces a funding opportunity to promote inter-institutional research collaboration between faculty, staff, and students from the University of Rochester and any of the Research Centers in Minority Institutions (RCMI) grantee institutions.

The RCMI program, supported by the National Center for Minority Health and Health Disparities, develops and strengthens the research infrastructure necessary to conduct state-of-the-art biomedical research and foster the next generation of researchers from underrepresented populations.

The RCMI Scholarly Exchange Program promotes training opportunities, networking, project development, research placement, and pilot research data gathering with the goal of producing abstracts, publications, or joint-grant applications among colleagues from different cultures, disciplines, and academic appointments.

In the spring of 2017, the CTSI hosted scholarly exchanges with the Morehouse School of Medicine, University of Puerto Rico, and University of Hawaii, involving faculty, staff, postdocs and students.

Total projects to be awarded: Maximum of four (4) per academic year.

Amount Awarded: $3,000 per project.

Application Deadline: January 31, 2018

Expenses and scholarly exchange activities are to be completed prior to May 31, 2018.

Eligible Applicants: Individuals underrepresented in the biomedical research workforce who are faculty, staff, advanced trainees (post-docs, residents, etc.), or students (graduate and undergraduate level) in current active standing within UR and RCMI Institutions.

All applicants must fill out the 2018 UR-RTRN Scholarly Exchange Application form along with supporting documents and send via email to Ivelisse_Rivera@urmc.rochester.edu with the subject title: 2018 UR-RCMI Exchange Application.

Supporting Documents:
