The University of Rochester Medical Center D-CFAR is one of 20 research centers funded by the National Institute of Health working to advance HIV/AIDS research being conducted at academic institutions throughout the United States.
The D-CFAR's primary mission is to raise the overall quality and quantity of HIV/AIDS research by providing value added services and critical support to Investigators at the University of Rochester.
We hope to accomplish this mission by:
- Providing outstanding clinical and basic core facilities
- Capitalizing on strategically chosen research opportunities
- Developing new lines of collaborative research
- Enhancing faculty mentoring, career development and recruitment

University Opens Multi-Million-Dollar Nanosystems Facility
August 2011 - University of Rochester opens new Integrated Nanosystems Center (URnano),
dedicated to researching and fabricating materials on a microscopic level. The new center
will bring together experts in physics, optics, chemistry, biomedicine and bioengineering
to expand the research and technology commercialization of fuel cells, biosensors and
other high-tech devices important to industry, medicine, national security, and the
