Academic Excellence
The University of Rochester School of Medicine is the first institution in the nation to be awarded six years full accreditation by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education. We maintain a GME rating of A+.
Exceptional Bedside Teaching
At URMC Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation, we treat more than 100,000 patients each year. Because our clinical practice comprises all twelve subspecialties of orthopaedics and physiatry, we offer both a depth and breadth of training opportunities.
Pacesetting Clinical and Discovery Research
As part of an academic medical center, our mandate is to seek ways to improve musculoskeletal health for our current patients and orthopaedics and rehabilitation patients of the future. Our faculty lead single and multi-center clinical trials of treatments and techniques that show great potential.
We approach musculoskeletal health from the bench as well. Our Center for Musculoskeletal Research brings together physicians and biomedical scientists from five departments into multidisciplinary teams that share research space and facilities and work together in a programmatic manner. We are focused on developing today the innovations we will bring to the clinic tomorrow. We are well positioned to do so. In 2006, we secured more research support from the NIH than any other orthopaedics department in the nation. Today, our funding exceeds that of the second highest funded department by several-fold.
