Hand and Upper Extremity Fellowship

Our Hand and Upper Extremity Fellowship is a one-year, ACGME accredited program that encompasses a full range of hand and wrist surgery with additional opportunities in elbow, shoulder, and reconstructive microsurgery. Our Fellows will be trained by surgeons renowned in all aspects of surgery of the upper extremity including:

  • Trauma
  • Post-traumatic reconstruction
  • Non-traumatic acquired problems
  • Rheumatoid arthritis
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Congenital conditions
  • Reconstructive microsurgery and replantation
  • Peripheral nerve surgery
  • Elbow surgery
  • Hand surgery
  • Shoulder surgery
  • Open and arthroscopic techniques

Hand and Upper Extremity Fellowship Faculty

Fellows will rotate with five faculty, spending equal time with each while seeing patients in our modern, state-of-the-art Clinton Crossings clinic. Surgical locations will include Clinton Crossings, Strong Memorial Hospital, Lattimore Community Surgicenter, and others. Our Fellows will also enjoy the opportunity to become involved in basic and clinical research in our Center for Musculoskeletal Research. Our fellowship begins August 1 each year.

Application Requirements

Applications are due February 1, 2010 and interviews will be held from February through April 2010.

Competitive applicants should have completed a residency in orthopaedics or plastic surgery. Applicants with a background in general surgery should demonstrate specific hand surgery training and special qualifications.

We participate in the NRMP matching program.
