UR CTSI Firsts at Commencement 2023

Commencement 2023 featured several firsts for the UR CTSI, including the first graduates of our Bachelor in Clinical and Translational Sciences program and the first time one of our Translational Biomedical Science PhD graduates gave a commencement speech.

Juilee Thakar Serves as New Translational Biomedical Science PhD Program Director

On July 1, Juilee Thakar, Ph.D., stepped into the role of director for the UR CTSI’s Translational Biomedical Science PhD Program, relieving interim director Edwin van Wijngaarden, Ph.D.

A Changing of the Guard for UR CTSI Translational Biomedical Sciences PhD Program

Timothy D. Dye, Ph.D. is stepping down as the director of the UR CTSI’s Translational Biomedical Science PhD program after five very successful years. He will be succeeded by Edwin van Wijngaarden, Ph.D., a highly experienced educator and mentor, starting July 1.

TBS Student Wins International Mini-Documentary Competition

Jishyra Serrano was announced today as the first place winner of the inaugural Capturing the Future: A Smartphone Mini-Documentary Competition at the AAAS annual meeting in Seattle, WA.

TBS Student Selected as Yale Ciencia Academy Fellow

Denisse Vega-Ocasio will begin a year-long fellowship this week at the Yale Ciencia Academy for Career Development, which provides doctoral students from underrepresented backgrounds opportunities for mentoring, networking, skills development, and science outreach.
