The Flaum Eye Institute is one of the top centers for vision research nationwide and growing. During the last few years, we have expanded our research facilities by over 20,000 square feet through an NIH building grant, linking our basic science with our clinical enterprises and industry. This growth has provided true "bench-side-to-bed-side" opportunities. Our highly collaborative approach to research allows scientists to work with some of the leading minds in vision research through the Center for Visual Science and Institute for Optics. Together, this alliance places the University of Rochester among the elite in National Eye Institute Funding. Tenure-Track Research Faculty Position
The Eye Institute is seeking applicants for an open-rank, tenure-track faculty position. We welcome candidates with a broad interest in studying ocular structure and function in health and disease. Primary appointment of the new faculty will reside in the Department of Ophthalmology | Flaum Eye Institute, but there are ready opportunities for secondary appointments in the Center for Visual Science (a university-wide community of >55 faculty engaged in vision research), and other University of Rochester departments (e.g., the Institute of Optics, Neuroscience, Biomedical Engineering, Microbiology and Immunology, Biomedical Genetics, etc.).
Candidates should hold a PhD, MD, MD PhD or equivalent. An important expectation for this job position is demonstrated research productivity and the ability to attract extramural funding. Depending on qualifications, an appointment will be made at the assistant, associate or full professor level.
