Some of comedy’s biggest names gathered in New York City on Wednesday to honor the life of Gilbert Gottfried and raise funds for muscular dystrophy research at the University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC).
The event celebrated the release of Gottfried’s long-anticipated vinyl album, Gilbert Gottfried Still Screaming, and featured a panel discussion with Emmy-winning comedy writer and producer Frank Santopadre; Gottfried's wife, Dara Gottfried; filmmaker Neil Berkeley; and comedians Dave Attell, Susie Essman, Judy Gold, Richard Kind, Robert Smigel, Paul Shafer, Chevy Chase, Jeff Ross, and Sal Vulcano from the Impractical Jokers.
Also joining the panel was Chad Heatwole, MD, director of URMC’s Center for Health + Technology. Proceeds from the event will go to the Gilbert Gottfried Myotonic Dystrophy Type 2 Research Fund, established by the Gottfried family to support research conducted by Heatwole and his team at URMC.
