Child life hosts "Family Fun Fair"
March is Child Life month and we couldn't be more proud of our child life specialists and the incredible work they do!
On Wednesday, March 25, UR Medicine's Golisano Children's Hospital's child life team hosted a "Family Fun Fair" for patients and families where they showcased many of the different techniques they use with kids during hospital stays. Activities included x-ray art, a teddy bear clinic, puppet play, and more! Guests also enjoyed ice cream sundaes dished out by Child Life Coordinator Wendy Lane and NICU child life specialist Chris Tryon.
Our child life specialists are trained and certified to care for the emotional and developmental needs of children and families. They can help children cope with anxiety and fear, as well as coach parents on how to talk with their children during traumatic times.
Child Life Goals & Objectives:
- Facilitate normal growth and development by providing play opportunities and social interactions in child and teen friendly environments.
- Prepare and support children, teens, and families for their medical experience in terms they can understand.
