Gala Celebrates New Era of Health for Region's Children

Oct. 24, 2014

galaMore than 1,100 elegantly dressed children's hospital supporters made their way through tall palms, bongo drums, and a land of animal prints at the Joseph A. Floreano Rochester Riverside Convention Center as they gathered together Oct. 18 at the jungle-themed 27th annual Golisano Children's Hospital Gala. Guests roared for sick and injured kids by raising more than $700,000 at the particularly special occasion, the last Gala before the new hospital opens its doors next summer.

"We have entered the home stretch for the construction of our future hospital and are eagerly anticipating the many new programs and talented professionals it will allow us to bring to Rochester's children and families," said Nina F. Schor, M.D., Ph.D., William H. Eilinger Chair of Pediatrics at the University of Rochester Medical Center and pediatrician-in-chief of Golisano Children's Hospital.
