Hyundai brings "Hope on Wheels" to patients with cancer

Aug. 13, 2015

On Monday, Aug. 10, Hyundai Hope on Wheels awarded UR Medicine's Golisano Children's Hospital with a $50,000 Hyundai Hope on Wheels Impact award to Pediatrician-in-Chief Dr. Nina Schor and pediatric oncologist Dr. Suzie Noronha. During the special check presentation, Rochester-area children battling cancer participated in the program's signature handprint ceremony where they got to decorate a white 2015 Santa Fe Sport, the official program vehicle, with their colorfully painted handprints.

Grateful mom Kelly McMillan spoke to the crowd of families, nurses, doctors and Hyundai dealers at the ceremony about her daughter Delaney Doyle's battle with stage 4 neuroblastoma. Delaney is now in remission.

Cancer is one of the seven priority programs of Golisano Children's Hospital's campaign, which focuses on expanding research, education and enhancing care for the benefit of our current and future patients. Today we have the potential to create innovative approaches to prevent, treat, and improve the long-term health of children who have won the battle against cancer.
