Santa visits the NICU
Our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) had a very special visitor this week! Santa was able to find time in his busy schedule to visit our tiniest patients and their families.
Tricia White, a proud mom of now 10-year-old NICU grad Jamie, remembers when Santa came to see her daughter in the NICU and how it provided "a normal few minutes" during what is a very stressful time. NICU Child Life Specialist Chris Tryon echoed her sentiment saying, "It's so important to bring some normalcy into the hospital setting. It goes a long way to promote hope and healing."
Our future Gosnell Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, named in honor of Georgia Gosnell and her $5 million commitment, will provide patients and families with such privacy and normalcy. The NICU will include 60 private rooms in the new building.
We are poised to revolutionize care for our smallest and most fragile patients and by having this new NICU and focusing on neonatology as one of our current campaign's seven priority programs, we are on our way.
