"The gift of Amanda" - A Democrat & Chronicle Story

Dec. 29, 2014

Amanda and Liz"The palliative care team at Golisano Children's Hospital helps chronically ill children cope with dying. But far more of its time is spent helping kids like Amanda Conrow live." - an excerpt from "The gift of Amanda," a story printed in the Democrat and Chronicle Sunday.

Over the last few months, D&C writer David Andreatta and photographer Annette Lein spent days getting to know Amanda, who was diagnosed with ependyma in 2012, her family, and her medical team. Andreatta and Lein saw Amanda at her treatments, her emergency visits, spent time with her brother and sisters at her home, and more.

"The gift of Amanda" tells the incredible story of Amanda's fight against a rare cancer and the work of her Pediatric Supportive Care team (palliative care) at Golisano Children's Hospital.

Donations can be made in honor of Amanda and the pediatric supportive care team online or by mail. To make a donation online please go to our giving form. A box on the form allows gifts to be made in someone's name.
