Drs. Lipschitz and Stephens to Lead New EIOH Specialty Care Clinic

Wayne Lipschitz, D.D.S., M.S., has been named director and Nadejda ‘Nadia’ Stephens, D.M.D., has been named assistant director of the new Specialty Care clinic at UR Medicine’s Eastman Institute for Oral Health.

Dr. Wayne LipschitzDr. Lipschitz (GenDen ’92, M.S. ’17), professor of Clinical Dentistry, has served as the director of the University Dental Faculty Group for the last 18 years. He provides operating room care for patients with severe intellectual and developmental disabilities and won the Golisano Foundation Leadership award for providing health care services to individuals with developmental disabilities.

An assistant professor, Dr. Stephens (GenDen ’10) has several years of post-doctoral clinical training in oral and maxillofacial surgery in Bulgaria and Israel, comprehensive and advanced general dentistry through residencies and fDr. Nadia Stephensellowship training programs in the United States. Previously, Dr. Stephens worked at the Anthony Jordan Health Center in Rochester, NY, and at the Whitney M. Young Jr. Health Center before that in Albany.

The new Specialty Care clinic, marking its grand opening October 18, is a new program that provides customized dentistry to patients with complex needs and intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Patients with various conditions, such as autism, obesity, eating disorders, multiple sclerosis, pregnancy, cancer and many others, can be treated by an inter-disciplinary team of dentists, dental specialists who will coordinate care with the patient’s physician and other providers.

Features of the new clinic include the ability to accommodate wheelchairs and stretchers, telehealth services with physicians, bariatric and airglide dental chairs, and all the latest technology in large treatment rooms.
