EIOH Welcomes New Faculty
Sindhu Kanikicharla, BDS, MS has been appointed assistant professor in EIOH’s Prosthodontics Clinic and sees patients at the University Dental Faculty Practice. After receiving her BDS degree from Vasantdada Patil Dental College in India, she completed a prosthodontics residency at Nova Southeastern University in Florida. She previously served as faculty at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry. Dr. Kanikicharla is a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontists and a fellow of the American College of Prosthodontics and American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics.
Mohammed Almirza, BDS (GenDen ’24, ’23, MS ‘24) was appointed assistant professor of Clinical Dentistry in General Dentistry. During his residency, Dr. Almirza assumed the role of ombudsman, facilitating communication and resolution between residents and leadership. He also served as teaching assistant in oral surgery, endodontics and orthodontics. He received his BDS degree from the University of Baghdad in Iraq.
Furquan Alwaely, BDS (GenDen ’24, ’23, MS ‘24) was appointed assistant professor of Clinical Dentistry in General Dentistry. She serves in EIOH’s Complex Care Center and Specialty Care clinics. During her residency she completed a Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (LEND) fellowship and was recognized with the Christine Burns Ideal Project Award for her patient advocacy and improving services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. She received her BDS degree from the University of Baghdad in Iraq.
Radhika Thakkar, BDS, MPH (GenDen ’23, ’24) has been appointed assistant professor. She serves in the General Dentistry, Specialty Care, and Community Dentistry clinics as well as faculty for EIOH’s innovative dental assistant trainee program. She received her BDS degree from Hemchandracharya North Gujarat University in India and is an American Academy of Implant Dentistry associate fellow.
Kyle Mecca, DMD, MS (OMFS ’24, MBA ’22) has been appointed assistant professor of Clinical Dentistry in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and sees patients at the University Dental Faculty Practice. After earning his DMD degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Bradenton, FL, he completed a GPR residency program at Rochester General Hospital. Dr. Mecca is an active member of his local and national dental and surgery societies.
Molly Christie, DDS (OMFS ’24) has been appointed clinical instructor in the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery department. She received her DDS degree from the University at Buffalo, in Buffalo, NY.
Michael Gray, BDS (GenDen ’24, ’22) has been appointed assistant professor of Clinical Dentistry in the General Dentistry. He received his BDS degree from the Central University of Venezuela.
Sung-Eun (Christine) Lim, DDS, PhD (GPR ’24) was appointed assistant professor in General Dentistry. She teaches in EIOH's General Practice Residency Program and also serves in EIOH's Community Dentistry clinics. She received her DDS degree from Columbia University College of Dental Medicine in New York City, NY.
Garima Jain, BDS, DDS, (MBA ’24) was appointed assistant professor in General Dentistry. She received her DDS degree from NYU School of Dentistry, in addition to a BDS degree earned in Delhi, India. Dr. Garima also completed an implant fellowship with the International Dental Implant Association.
