Golf Tournaments Honor Lost Friends, Support Wilmot Cancer Center
Friends and family of the late Clinton J. Cooper and James Marasco are organizing golf tournaments on Saturdays, Aug. 7 and 14, to support research and patient care at the James P. Wilmot Cancer Center at the University of Rochester Medical Center.
The Coop Cup tees off at 1 p.m. this Saturday at LeRoy Country Club to raise funds for research. The event honors Cooper, known as “Coop,” who was diagnosed with brain cancer in the spring of 2008. He underwent treatment at the Wilmot Cancer Center and responded very well. A year later he got married in Italy and tragically passed away just four days later. He was 29 years old.
The tournament is $75 per person which includes golf, cart, lunch and a chicken barbecue dinner. The $20 per person dinner is open to anyone. For more information, go to www.coopcup.com.
The Marasco Memorial Golf Tournament will be Saturday, Aug. 14, at Webster Country Club, and honor the memory of Gates police officer James Marasco. He was a quick-witted, well-liked police offer who enjoyed golf and time with his family and friends. The scramble will raise funds for the Wilmot Cancer Center’s Samuel E. Durand Blood and Marrow Transplant Unit, where he was treated.
The tournament is $85 per person and includes golf, cart, lunch and dinner. Or you can join the group for dinner for $35. For more information, contact james.marasco@globalcrossing.com.
